Jousting Game: The Joust
Three taps a pass. Five challengers. Unhorse them all.
How to play
- Spur: tap when the needle crosses the gold, to gallop at full speed.
- Aim: your lance tip sweeps across your opponent's shield. Tap to lock it on the centre.
- Strike: time slows as you meet. Tap the moment the shrinking ring touches the shield.
- A clean hit scores 1, a shattered lance 2, and unhorsing your opponent wins the bout at once. Otherwise the most points after three passes wins.

Tips
- Speed, aim and timing all count, but a lance on the centre of the shield counts most.
- Each challenger rides faster and sweeps your aim quicker than the last.
- A well-timed strike also braces you against your opponent's lance.
- Every challenger rides under their own coat of arms, drawn fresh for each tournament.

How do you win a joust?
Score more points over three passes, or unhorse your opponent to win the bout at once. Win five bouts to become Champion of the Realm.
Were real jousts scored with points?
Yes. In the 1500s heralds kept score on jousting cheques: vellum score sheets that tallied hits to the head and body, lances broken and faults. This game keeps the spirit with simpler rules.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes. It is free, needs no account or download, and has no blood: knights are knocked from the saddle, not hurt.
Can my knight carry my own coat of arms?
Yes. Design one free in Crest Studio and it appears on your shield, your lance and your horse's cloth.
